This past Sunday Luke spoke from Colossians 4:2-6 and shared a quote from his father which said:

“Build bridges of friendship and let Jesus walk across.”

Luke gave us tons of practical examples of how we can share our faith through friendship and be bridges of hope, comfort, encouragement, hospitality, and love. I love how simple his examples were. It was so inspiring and reminded me that our simple acts of love can have huge effects.

At the same time I feel like it can feel scary to step out and give comfort to someone who is hurting or to speak hope to someone who is discouraged. And the truth is, until we step out and do it, it will feel scary to some extent. There is always an unknown of how that interaction may go and unknowns are always scary at first. I remember feeling this way when I first decided to put my faith into action. Sometimes I still feel nervous. Although it does get easier each time, we have to remember that he doesn’t expect you to know how to do it all perfectly. He is here to help us as we try our best to follow Him and show love to others.

I always forget to just ask Him for help. It is so simple but he shows up. Ask Him to highlight someone that needs your hope, comfort, encouragement, hospitality, or love. Then just go about your week with your eyes and ears open. I am expectant that God will show you people who need just what you have to give.

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” (Colossians 4:2-6)

We’d love to have you join us this Sunday at 9 or 11am! We’ll continue our series on how Christianity is practical and applies to our daily lives!
