Every two years, Vineyard USA puts on and hosts a national conference. This year the conference was titled, “Together, Leaning Outward” and was hosted by the Vineyard church in Anaheim down in SoCal. The Red Bluff Vineyard sent five people: Dawn and I, Linda Sigler, Wes McLachlan, and Andrea Martin.

The conference featured some great Vineyard speakers as well as the amazing Christopher J. H. Wright. Wright spoke from his The Mission of God and set forth one of the clearest explanations for why the Church exists than one could receive. We exist to make God known and to be a blessing and to join in all of the activities of the kingdom. If you want to get a practical explanation of this, I’d recommend his The Mission of God’s People. It’s quite good and if you want to know what is one of the most influential ideas in my life, this would help.

At any rate, the week was full of worship, be it singing or praying, and a lot of time connecting with Vineyard friends or making new ones.

It’s encouraging to know that there are virtually hundreds of other Vineyard churches out there that are trying to make an impact in the world around us for the cause of Christ and his kingdom!

I left encouraged to come back to Red Bluff and to spend my life working in my community to see Jesus’ kingdom break in and to see people’s lives changed by the power of the Holy Spirit. I also am excited to see how our community can make a big impact in the world around us too!

God’s got great things in store for us!
